The Park

Clifton Summer Orchard

  • The park, featuring lawns, ponds, woods and orchards on a 34-acre property, is open to the public all day, year-round. Conveniently located just 1km from exit 5 on Highway 101, it’s a perfect day trip destination for locals and tourists alike.
  • From mid-May to early October, the gates are open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. When the gates are closed visitors are welcome to park on the street. There is no winter maintenance, and visitors are asked to use caution. 
  • The park features a 1.5km gravel trail network connecting with the West Hants Regional Municipality (www.westhants.ca) active transport network. 
  • Walk the scenic grounds and trails, including a 1km self-guided Walking Tour.   [https://www.alltrails.com/explore/map/clifton-walking-tour-5f2c22c]. (French and English links) on a gravel trail.
  • Enjoy your lunch on the lawn or picnic tables.  An accessible picnic table is located near the museum and parking lot. Restaurants, services, and cafes are located within 500m in downtown Windsor. 
  • Enjoy a round of disc golf at the Clifton Disc Golf Course. The course, located in the park, features 9 baskets and 18 tee boxes strategically around the park and is free for all users.
  • Cross-country ski, snowshoe, or walk a 2.5km multi-use groomed winter trail network around the park.  All non-motorized users are welcome.  Maintained in partnership with Scotia XC Ski Club [https://scotiaxc.ca/]
  • Experience outdoor games and toys from the 1800s. Try your hand at graces, stilts, hoops, croquet, washer toss, and horseshoes. Available for free on the museum lawn on weekends and holidays (weather permitting) during the museum season. 
  • Three gender-neutral, single-stall washrooms are available in the museum during open hours.
  • Free public wi-fi is available in the museum and outdoors at nearby picnic tables.
